Meet Our Team &Board Members
Patty Livingston is an IT Systems Analyst, retiring from Hewlett Packard in 2010 after 23 years of serving as a software Release Manager/Project Manager. In January of 2009, she became the President of the Georgia Equine Rescue League, Ltd. (GERL), a 501©3, non-profit organization, and is currently serving her eighth year in that capacity. After leaving HP, Patty dedicated the next three years of her time creating several new GERL programs, before accepting a two-year contract position with TD Bank as a Quality Assurance Analyst. Those programs include a castration program called Stallion to Gelding, a Crisis Intervention program, “Feed A Horse” program and law enforcement training on the handling of equine and equine laws throughout the state of Georgia.
In addition, Patty created and orchestrated an annual statewide castration day in Georgia where equine veterinarians across the state agree to castrate horses for $100 with GERL paying $50 per horse to encourage stallion owners to participate. This program is responsible for turning over 100 stallions into geldings in just one day! GERL has helped pay for the castration of over 700 stallions since the creation of their castration programs. She also wrote an Equine “Get Well” Plan that is a simple 5-step plan to get Georgia on track to solving its horse problems.
With over ten million horses in our country today, Georgia is the leader with all of these programs in place. It is her goal to share the success of GERL with other equine rescues all over the country, in hopes of having every state adopt their own “Equine Get Well Plan”.

The Secretary position at GERL has been filled by Donna Pieper who has actually held positions on the
GERL Board in the past. Donna and I have been able to get together and review our membership database
and I am feeling very good (and extremely fortunate) to have Donna fill this important position. She is
accustomed to working with applications and has caught on quickly to the gaps where she is most needed.
For the first time in a long time, I feel that we might actually get around to the important task of doing a
membership drive this year with Donna’s help and expertise..
Big thanks to Donna for stepping up to take on this task. I am looking forward to working with her and
expanding our horizons a bit with regard to mastering the membership database
Leslie Lambert was recently added to the GERL Board of Directors with a unanimous vote. She is filling the position of Alternate Board Member, previously filled by Linda Kundell who recently retired from that position after serving for over eight years. I want to extend a huge “thank you” to Linda for her service over the many years, as well as to Leslie for volunteering to fill the position.
Leslie has been a member of GERL for many years and has always been a faithful volunteer, many times doing the things that nobody likes to do. She already wears the hat as our Volunteer Coordinator, but she always helps with gathering donations, transporting horses or just about anything that comes her way. Leslie is also a recipient of the much-coveted Marty Paulk Cheerleader Award as a testament to her dedication to GERL.

I am a new area coordinator in the Hart, Elbert and Franklin County area.
I live now live in Hart County Georgia, by way of California and Florida. I have raised, raced, bred thoroughbreds and had a lay-up facility in the San Francisco Bay area. Now I have “retired” from the thoroughbred business I found myself wanting to give back to the animals that have given me so much pleasure. I found through extensive research this wonderful organization “Georgia Equine Rescue League”. The work that they do and the horses that they have brought back from the brink is very impressive. Reading the duties of an A/C looked a bit daunting to me, but once you break it all down its really just what we would do ourselves if we had a group behind us. We are here to help the horses, but also we are here to help the owners through education. I’m all about understanding. I have learned so much through the years and learn something new everyday.
