Helping Starved, Abused  & Neglected Horses in Georgia

"With your help we...will make a difference!"

A Tall Stack…

A tall stack of GERL newsletters sit on the floor beside my desk chronicling the years of horses that we
helped and events that we hosted. I refer to them every quarter when I start putting a newsletter together, so I take a ride down memory lane quite often. Now, as I reflect on the past 16 years, I well remember the fork in the road when I had to choose to step up or accept the end of the road for GERL. I knew that my decision to take over as President would change my life, and it certainly did that, but, in the best of ways. I had no idea that it would take me on this incredible adventure that goes beyond equine rescue. To have the opportunity to partner with Equine Immersion Project (EIP) and with the army at Ft. Stewart and touch lives with horses is something none of us ever dreamed. To partner with the author of children’s books about horses and dogs or bring awareness of the plight of horses on Cumberland, more things we never dreamed of. Yes, it IS an incredible journey and one that I think is far from over. None of what has been accomplished would have happened without teamwork. The GERL team works well together, and everybody comes to the table with different strengths. We have met some awesome people along the way and strengthened relationships with each other in the process. I am proud of the work that we have accomplished and the direction that we are moving. As I said, I could never have guessed that we would be on this path, but let me say this about that, I couldn’t have picked a better path to be on.

Thank you for joining us on the journey!
